Summary of requirements:  

  • Dollar amount of the scholarship award is $500 to $1,000.
  • All applicants must be graduating from one of the four Plant City area high schools:  Durant, Plant City, Simmons, or Strawberry Crest.  Students with a Plant City area address graduating from a home school, private school, or charter school are also eligible.
  • All applicants must have participated in at least one Plant City Parks & Recreation or Plant City Champions for Youth sponsored activity listed on the application. All applicants must fully complete the online application.
  • All applicants must have been accepted into a vocational/technical/trade school/apprenticeship program or OR accepted to a college or university in the United States for academic work towards a two- or four-year degree.
  • All applicants must have a high level of community service and extracurricular activity.
  • Vo-tech applicants and college applicants will fill out different applications.
  • Vo-tech applicants will provide a summary of their chosen vocation and why they chose the vocational route.
  • College applicants must complete a 500-word essay on the subject "What my participation in the PC Rec/PC Champions sponsored program(s) meant to me".
  • Reference/recommendation letter(s) can be attached to the application.
  • Applications are due no later than the deadline stated on the application.
  • Funds awarded to the selected recipients will be directed into specific accounts for scholarship expenses.  Account information will be requested from awarded recipients.
